I know I quote from this book a lot but it is such a simple book with simple truths that bring everlasting joy. The things Elder Scott talks about really are the most basic, yet profound ways in which we can overcome the obstacles in our lives.

WELCOME

Over the past seven years I have fought with depression. It all started when I got on the birth control pill just before I got married. The pill changed the way I saw myself as well as how I saw life. This lead to an eating disorder and all of it (mixed with a few other things) lead to depression.

Because I was so affected by the pill, I decided that I wasn't going to try medication with the depression because I didn't know what kind of effect it would have on me (I am very sensitive to ALL medication). So, I had to find alternitive ways of coping and overcoming.

This blog is designed to share some of the ways I overcame it and also learn of ways that have helped others deal with or overcome it. Depression is a very real thing that is so difficult for the person going through it as well as their family and close friends. Even if you don't have depression, maybe you know someone that does and I just hope and pray that something on this blog might help. I know that every person is different as well as every case of depression is different. I know through experience and trial and error that the Lord is there to help. With faith, diligence and applying learned principles we can have joy on this earth.

I chose not to use medication for my own reasons but I know many choose to use it. Whatever the case I know that the Lord will help. He will lead us to the tools, the books, the talks and the people that can help us. He will also give us our own personal revelation tailored to each individual person. That being said, my experience was not easy or fast. However, each person's experience is different. If things don't change right away please don't give up. My struggle to overcome depression went on for a few years getting better and then having set backs. I still have a few set backs every now and then but nothing like it used to be and I can usually nip it really quickly.
